Institute of Texan Cultures Set to Reopen in San Antonio's Frost Tower

Museum Welcomes Visitors with Free Admission During Opening Week

The Institute of Texan Cultures is thrilled to announce its grand reopening in downtown San Antonio's Frost Tower on January 29.

 

To celebrate this milestone, the museum is offering free admission throughout the first week.

 

Visitors are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the updated policies to ensure a safe and enriching experience.

 

Admission Details:

 

Adults: $10

 

Children under 5: Free

 

Youth (ages 5 to 17): $5

 

Seniors (65+): $5

 

UT San Antonio faculty, staff, and students*: Free

 

Military personnel*: $5

 

*Valid ID required.

 

Tickets are non-refundable and valid only for the specified date.

 

Some exhibits or programs may have additional fees.

 

Please note, the museum operates as a cashless environment; cash payments are not accepted at the door.

111 W. Houston St., Suite 100, San Antonio, TX 78205

 

(Near the corner of Camaron St.)

 

Hours of Operation:

 

Thursday–Sunday: 10:00 am–4:00 pm

 

Wednesdays: Reserved for school field trips

 

Closed: Mondays and Tuesdays

 

Holidays: Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day

 

Group Tours:

 

Groups of 10 or more are welcome!

 

To ensure the best experience, please reserve your spot online in advance.

 

Group reservations help us prepare for your arrival and make your visit smooth and enjoyable.

 

Parking Options:

 

Several paid parking facilities are within a short walking distance to the museum.

 

These are managed by third-party vendors or the City of San Antonio:

 

210 W. Houston: Located across the street from the Frost Tower.

 

225 W. Travis: Located on the north side of the Frost Tower.

 

111 W. Houston St – Frost Tower Garage

 

231 W. Salinas: Located behind the Travis parking lot.

 

This is a License Plate Recognition (LPR) lot.

 

Pay scan signs are posted in the lot for hourly parking payment.

 

City of San Antonio affordable parking options and programs.

 

City Tower Garage: 60 N. Flores St., free on Sundays

 

On-street parking: Free on Sundays

 

UT San Antonio Students, Staff, and Faculty:

 

Consider parking at the UT San Antonio downtown campus and utilizing the convenient Little Runner shuttle service.

 

The University of Texas at San Antonio and the Institute of Texan Cultures are not responsible for damage or theft.

 

Visitor Guidelines:

 

Please be respectful and considerate of others.

 

Disruptive behavior is not allowed.

 

Children must be supervised at all times.

 

Always follow museum staff instructions.

 

No food, drinks, or gum are allowed in the galleries, including water bottles.

 

Photography for personal use is permitted unless otherwise posted.

 

Flash photography, tripods, and selfie sticks are prohibited.

 

Commercial photography or media requests must be coordinated through UT San Antonio Libraries & Museums Communications.

The museum is wheelchair accessible.

 

A limited number of non-motorized wheelchairs are available.

 

Restrooms and water fountains are accessible.

 

In accordance with ADA and UT San Antonio policies, the museum welcomes service animals.

 

Unfortunately, pets or emotional support animals are not permitted.

 

Sensory Bags are available to check out at the front desk.

 

Please contact a member of our Visitor Services team for special assistance.

 

Please do not touch exhibits.

 

Do not lean on or place items on platforms or display cases.

 

Stay behind stanchioned or barriered areas.

 

Intentional or accidental damage to artifacts or displays may result in legal action.

 

The Institute of Texan Cultures is classified as an exclusionary zone by UT San Antonio.

 

With the exception of law enforcement officers, firearms are not permitted inside the museum.

Prohibited items include firearms, tobacco, vapes, alcohol, or illegal substances.

 

Large bags, backpacks, and suitcases are not permitted on the exhibit floor.

 

Due to limited space, we are unable to store large bags.

 

Lost items are held at the front desk for 60 days.

 

The museum is not responsible for lost or damaged belongings.

 

Follow staff instructions and use marked exits.

 

Report any emergencies to staff immediately.
